Group Notes

Paulina - Friday March 11, 2011

(i jotted down as we strolled around)

Every exit is covered in advertisements.

The architecture and mood and themes change between different sections.

Same generic hallways filled with consumerism and they bring you to a new space.

They want to keep you down here (the path) as long as possible.

People's attire changes drastically from place/sections to place.

The difference between winter vs. summer & night vs. day (people traffic wise)

There are more maps down below vs. up top on the streets.

Simulation and simulacra (Jean Baudrillard)
-a simulation of the real world, hence the fake trees, flowers, park and 'windows' which allow 'real' light to shine into the underground

Easier to get lost if you don't know your way around (clearly)

Technology covers the area throughout; ex. security cameras are located around places that pedestrians do not have access

A modern city; a memory of the city above
